Get Clean While You Get Dirty

The NYC Surfrider chapter will be holding a beach clean up this Saturday from 10AM - 1PM at 90th St in Rockaway. Not only will the beach be getting cleaned, but the chapter is collecting data to present to the city on the garbage situation and how we can preserve our coast better. There should be plenty of swell on tap for the weekend, so in between sessions dig in and pick up some trash.

Hot off the press this week we received copies of Matt Warshaw's The History of Surfing which he has been working on for sometime now documenting the history and culture that has evolved over time as the lifestyle and sport boomed from the most primitive wave riders to the global phenomenon where we are at today. Also in is Harbour Chronicles: A life in Surfboard Culture which documents the story through words and photos of Rich Harbour shaping his first surfboard in his parents garage in 1959 to current day production where the label remains the oldest surfboard manufacturing shop around. Both are crucial reads for those looking to broaden their cultural consciousness.

... stop in the shop for any gear you may need to shred Igor this weekend.
