The Horse Was Too Wild

Two super-sweet shorts shown together at the Film Forum by French director and inventer of the board game RISK Albert Lamorisse; White Mane (1953) and The Red Balloon (1956). Crin Blanc (above) an end of innocence riff about a boy and a wild white horse shot in the south of France with seaside equestrian ecstacies and whimisical "vaqueros de las olas" ending. Andreini would approve!

Strangely reminscent of Gonz's 1999 drawing for Keith Hufnagel's Real model featuring the text, 'The Horse Was Too Wild.'

Red Balloons were given to all children after the screening. Trippy...

Rumor has it Rich 'Toby' Pavel will be in haus tomorrow after 7pm but you know how these things go...

the red balloon was the very first play (off-off) I saw in NYC. My old man took me, bleacher seats only, and I too got a red balloon. Had to have been 8 or 9 years old.
