ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell from the photo but I hope that there are distinctive markings on these crafts that indicate whether Tom or Jon shaved the wood?
Welcome to Wegener Surfboards.
ReplyDeleteWe are a family run business based in Hermosa Beach. We proudly manufacture our surfboards in the United States, and try to source our materials in this country whenever possible.
Jon Wegener has been shaping for 21 years and has dreamed of doing nothing else except surfing and shaping. As a board maker Jon has always tried to find the right board for the right conditions. He loves to make and ride a huge variety of surfboards, from the raw wood of the Alaia, to the “traditional” fiberglass noserider, to the modern shortboard and anything in between. Jon truly believes that there is a time and a place for just about every type of board.
Jon Wegener and his brother Tom Wegener have created “sister” companies. While Wegener Surfboards is based in California, Tom Wegener surfboards is based in Queensland, Australia. They bring together their different approaches to surfing, and influences to collaborate on design and techniques. The outcome of this collaboration is pure functionality and enjoyment that is not stuck in any one style of surfing, but takes the best from the past and present.
Our highest priority is to find the board th at is right for your style and your body. Along with that we want to challenge your ideas of surfing as our ideas have been challenged. We do a lot of experimentation and we love to share this exciting new knowledge with you. We happen to live in a very exciting time in surfing history. We have at our fingertips a vast array of surfboards, and surfing styles, and we have the freedom to choose, the board, and style that works best for us personally, or just simply what makes us the happiest.
Here at wegener surfboards we are currently are coming unglued in our excitement about finless wood surfboards that we have just in the last few years rediscovered from our surfing ancestors. Of course in our obsession to make a better board we have taken what we have learned from the past and combined it with some modern innovations, and we are absolutely overjoyed to be sharing this with you…. Join us in our adventure!
